In recent times, I’ve been inspired by Manu Prakash, a professor at Stanford University who has been labelled as ‘one of the most innovative scientists of our day’,” she says, adding that she is working on the project ‘An Innovative Crowdsourcing Approach to Monitoring Freshwater Bodies,’ and is brainstorming ideas for several other projects, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. However, several hours of hard work and research haven’t kept Sahithi away from pursuing her hobbies.. The mobile app works with electronic sensors and chemical test strips to let the user collect several physical and chemical parameters of a water sample. I’ve lived half my life in scenic suburbs of the US, and the other half in the city of Bengaluru. My system helps citizens collect data through an affordable, easy-to-use mobile-based water testing kit. After developing a mobile application that measures pollution in lakes by obtaining data through crowdsourcin, Sahithi wrote a research paper which led her to name a planet after herself.Sahithi, who is currently in the USA, feels that she always tries to notice the best in everyone she comes across, and sees how she can do better. She feels what is important is that whatever she does; she should be able to put her heart and soul in it. In my reading, I always make sure to have variety. While I might say I want to pursue science right now, I can never know if I might change my mind a little later. “I’m a Bharathnatyam dancer and I play the veena. I think there’s never much trouble in making time for the things you love doing,” she says.

My two younger sisters, Lalitha and Sreekari, also helped me by asking many questions — they practically know my project presentation better than I do!” Sahithi says, talking fondly about her family.”Sahithi’s family is from Andhra Pradesh, and for the first eight years of her life, she lived in New York in the United States, before moving to Bengaluru. “To me at least, the sheer gravity of the environmental problems we face is something I can’t ignore. While most 16-year-olds are busy enjoying their life, this schoolgirl from Bengaluru feels it’s important that people understand their environmental surroundings and work towards improving them. My family has definitely played a huge role in my success. “My grandparents live in Hyderabad and we speak Telugu at home. “I find myself inspired by everyone I meet, since everyone has a unique story to tell and a fascinating set of skills to bring to the table. So, I researched the various factors that contribute to the pollution of our water bodies through surveys, sessions with experts, and interviewing people who live and work around the lakes. This incredible achievement came after she won an award for her research paper, ‘An Innovative Crowdsourcing Approach to Monitoring Freshwater Bodies’ at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), for which she was awarded second prize, and three special awards in the Earth and Environment Sciences category.

“When I look to the future, I dream about a lot of things.”Sahithi PingaliExplaining further about the mobile app she developed, Sahithi adds, “I’ve built a system that allows school students and citizens — even ones without scientific experience — to easily gather scientific water testing data, and to also share, analyse and understand that data. I also love to read and write. When working on my project, I was always encouraged by my parents. But wherever my aspirations take me, I want my work to be constantly motivated by social needs, particularly in developing countries and disadvantaged populations,” she concludes. Sahithi’s paper was based on the insights she gathered after having developed a mobile application that measures pollution in lakes by obtaining data through crowdsourcing. I alternate between fiction and non-fiction, depending on what I’m in the mood to read. It’s not every day that you get to name a celestial body, is it? Luckily for Sahithi Pingali, a minor planet somewhere in the Milky Way, many light years China hair removal wax strip rolls away from Earth, has been named after her. I think the contrast between those two settings made me extra aware of these problems — our cities are literally dying, sucked dry and choked with pollution.Although, Sahithi doesn’t have a fixed future plan right now, she wants to enjoy every moment and give it her 100 per cent. I know for sure that I want to pursue my education in science or engineering in one of the world’s best institutions

Like always he was ready for the challenge. I might have had fights with Sachin more than the runs he has scored while playing opingo-betingo. Kambli also stood no chance. Few years ago, I had been to Wankhede for a Ranji trophy game and I went to meet him. We meet him on and off,” Ricky explained. So how did they meet I was studying at St Joseph’s Wadala, Sachin at IES King George in Bandra and Kambli was in Our Lady of Dolours in Marine Lines. We were backbenchers in class. And sir told us, if you all want to play good cricket, you will have to join Shardashram high school. This was in 1986/87 when we were in the seventh standard and from there began our friendship,” said Ricky, who holds the Limca Book record for the youngest umpire to pass a cricket umpire’s exam in India at 16 years and 116 days. Ricky and Sachin used to visit each other’s homes and continue from they left off in class. And does he still keep in touch with him We are in touch with him. When my date was fixed, Marcus told him the date and he was ready to come for the nuptials also at Gorai. Till today nobody has been able to beat him from our group.Today, 42-year-old Ricky is a state level umpire with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and is also a Limca Book record holder for the youngest umpire in India to pass a cricket exam at the age of 16 years and 116 days. He has not changed at all.

The game has still not stopped between Ricky and Sachin. It was something new for me to see such a big kit bag. We used to always get punished by teachers. Sachin used to play panja (arm wrestling) game. After a period was over, he Dry Compressed Facial Mask Suppliers emptied the bag, he put me in and zipped it and showed that I’ve won this also,” Ricky said. He used to really give a hard punch,” he added. Sachin was very mischievous and academically was like an average student, not too brilliant. While in school, Ricky and Sachin were the bad boys and part of a ‘deadly gang’. I met him at Bandra-Kurla Complex last before he went for Cricket All Stars.. We told him to come for the reception and he said that he will raise the toast for me. He is the same like what he was in school.Sachin was a champ during his younger days too. And I told them, ‘Haa aamcha game aahe opingo-betingo’ (this is our game). That very day we all took a decision and joined Shardashram. One of our friends told Sachin that the kit bag is so big that you can easily fit Ricky in the bag. During recess we used to all be together, we used to play mischief with everybody and people used to get frightened of us.” In class, the competition got tougher. Ricky, who also holds another Limca Book record for the most number of cricket neck ties (547), spoke about a mischievous Sachin, full of mirth.

Sachin had a peculiar habit of signing on any piece of paper in school. Sachin loved his vada pav. Ricky was Sachin’s classmate at Shardashram Vidyamandir in Dadar. Sachin used to play with me opingo-betingo (a fistful children’s game). We all used to practice with Achrekar sir (Ramakant Achrekar) at Shivaji Park. He started hitting me and the whole team was stunned, ‘Ye kya ho raha hai,’ (what’s going on ) they were saying. Sometimes I used to go to his place and we used to play with a soft ball. The friendship reached its pinnacle when the Master Blaster raised a toast at Ricky’s wedding in 2005. Kambli used to travel from Kanjur Marg to Marine Lines. If not in class, during recess the boys would be even naughtier.More than three decades ago, Sachin Tendulkar was a young impish character who had not Ricky Ponting but Ricky Couto in his side.” Greatness beckoned Tendulkar at a young age when he went to England with Star Cricket Club under Kailash Gattani in 1988. He also used to come to my mine and eat his favourite dish, Mutton Vindaloo while Kambli’s was pork sorpotel. Call it fate but Sachin was a champ during his younger days too. He had just come back from that tour with a big kit bag. They used to make us stand on the bench, sometimes outside the class and sometimes near the blackboard also,” he said. Any piece of paper he would get, he would sign on it, I don’t know why, whether he was practicing for the future,” Ricky guffawed.” Ricky says the legend in the making had a habit of signing on paper. He was there before time,” he added

Among other key machines which have reportedly not been functioning are mobile infants warmer, vital sign monitor, air ascepticiser, arm chest exerciser, shoulder vertical unit, rotatory wrist unit, muscle stimulator and wax bath machine. The Haemodialysis machine, commonly called kidney dialysis, purchased in 2010 for about Rs 8. The situation in the 1,000 bed hospital, which also serves as a training centre for undergraduate and post-graduate medical students, has reached an alarming proposition with the hospital records suggesting that some of companies from which these equipment had been purchased during the past two decades were not even traceable. The hospital said that one of the echocardiography machine, used for standard two-dimensional imaging of heart, has been lying ideal since June 17, 2016.New Delhi: Critical care equipment worth lakhs of rupees have been non-functional for the past several years in the city government-run Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital in East Delhi.

But, little seems to have been done by the AAP government to make the critical care medical equipment Nonwoven Fabric Cleaning Cloth Manufacturers functional at GTB Hospital. The state of the critical care medical equipment clearly exhibits the way the successive governments had over the years been non-serious towards the pressing issues of the government hospitals. The company which had supplied this equipment too is non-traceable.One of the defibrillators, used to give high energy shock to the heart through the chest wall to patients suffering from cardiac arrest, stopped functioning just three years after it was purchased in 2001. The hospital has now blacklisted the machine. Even the infusion pump, purchased in 2003, to infuse fluids, medication or nutrients into a patient’s circulatory system, is not functioning since 2010. Worse come worse, one of the cardiac monitors has been non-functional since 1999.70 lakh to pump the patient’s blood and dialyse through the dialyzer, has not been functioning since October 30, 2014. And a cardioscope monitor has not been functioning for the past 21 years.

These startling facts have come to light in a reply filed by the hospital in response to an RTI application by Rohini resident Raj Hans Bansal.Even three cardiac monitors have reportedly not been functioning for the past several months. The records show that the company from which the hospital had purchased two portable ventilators about 25 years ago was not traceable.. And two other companies from which the hospital had purchased two other portable ventilators in 2010 have not been responding ever since their equipment became non-functional about five years ago. The national capital is now under the AAP rule, whose major focus has been on health and education sector. The hospital which boasts of attending about 4,000 patients in its OPD on a daily basis, provides neurosurgery facilities to roadside accident victims and has well-equipped burn and Thallesemia care centres, is grappling hard to deal with the heavy rush of patients due to some non-functional high frequency thermotheraphy units, electro surgical diathermy system, ecocardiograph and non-invasive BP units. While the BJP ruled the city for five years from 1993 onwards, the Congress administered it for 15 consecutive years

It involves the bending of light by massive galaxy clusters in the line of sight, which magnifies more distant celestial objects.Kelly said he preferred the nickname Warhol, after the American artist Andy Warhol, owing to the star’s “15 minutes of fame” following its discovery.Because its light has taken so long to reach Earth, looking at this star is like peering back in time to when the universe was less than a third of its current age.3 billion lights years away from Earth. Older galaxies have been spotted but their individual stars were indiscernible. The star spotted in this study is formally named MACS J1149+2223 Lensed Star-1, but its discoverers dubbed it Icarus, who flew so close to the sun that his wings fashioned from wax and feathers melted, sending him plunging fatally into the sea.

“We will now be able to study in detail what the universe was like — and specifically how stars evolved and what their natures are — almost all the way back to the earliest stages of the universe and the first generations of stars,” Kelly added. But this sort of quirk of nature allows us to see much bigger volumes,” said astronomer Patrick Kelly of the University of Minnesota, lead author of the research published in the journal Nature Astronomy. This makes dim, faraway objects that otherwise would be undetectable, like an individual star, visible. The scientists took advantage of a phenomenon called “gravitational lensing” to spot the star..“No one liked that, except for one other person, so it ended up Icarus,” Kelly said.

The star, located in a distant spiral galaxy, is at least 100 times further away than any other star previously observed, with the exception of things like the huge supernova explosions that mark the death of certain stars. It is a type of star called a blue supergiant.Researchers said on Monday they used NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope to spot the star, which is up to a million times more luminous and about twice as hot as our sun, residing 9. The Big Bang that gave rise Spunbond Nonwoven fabric Suppliers to the universe occurred 13.Scientists have detected the most distant star ever viewed, a blue behemoth located more than halfway across the universe and named after the ancient Greek mythological figure Icarus.8 billion years ago.“The fraction of the universe where we can see stars is very small

Other potential benefits include “engineering cancer resistance into new therapeutic cell lines and accelerating high-productivity, غير مجاز مي باشدt-efficient vaccine and pharmaceutical development using human cells and organoids,” they added. But the idea has already sparked criticism due to the potential of one day creating children with no biological parents, and due to the secrecy surrounding a recent closed-door meeting on the subject. Its proponents envision a project on the same scale as the Human Genome Project, which mapped and published the full, sequenced human genome in 2003 — or the 99.Critics of the idea include Drew Endy, a bioengineer at Stanford University, and Laurie Zoloth, a professor of religion at Northwestern University.“First we already replace segments of human genes in cells growing in culture dishes.9 per cent that we all have in common.”.”The paper followed an invitation-only meeting of 130 scientists, policymakers and entrepreneurs at Harvard University three weeks ago that was shrouded in secrecy. This is well regulated and is the very core of the new advances in medical genetics.Dubbed “Human Genome Project-write” or “HGP-write” — since synthesizing would amount to “writing” rather than “reading” our genetic code — the project aims to reduce the غير مجاز مي باشدt of engineering DNA segments in the lab. They did not provide an estimate for total غير مجاز مي باشدts, saying only that it would likely be less than the billion for the Human Genome Project.Sequencing the human genome requires decoding the exact order of about three billion base pairs of DNA packed into 30,000 genes.

The project’s backers said they hoped to launch it this year after raising 0 million around the world from public, private, philanthropic and academic sources. The ambitious proposal could make it possible to grow human organs for transplant and speed up the development of vaccines, the project backers said in a paper published on June 2 in the journal Science.“Taking a step back, just because something becomes possible, how should we approach determining if it is ethical to pursue ” they wrote in a recent op-ed article for غير مجاز مي باشدmos magazine. Making large and larger pieces of human chromosomes and putting them into host cells in culture dishes will enable more deeper understanding of what all the genes and the non-coding DNA actually does,” he said via the Science Media Centre. Potential applications, they said, include “growing transplantable human organs and engineering immunity to viruses in cell lines via genome-wide recoding. In response to ethical concerns, the project’s promoters said they envisioned a broad public discourse with “conversations well in advance of project implementation. The new goal would be “more ambitious and more focused on understanding the practical applications than the original Human Genome Project,” said George Church, a genetics professor at Harvard Medical School, and one of the 25 authors of the paper.

The New York Times cited organisers as saying that they wanted to avoid publicity so as to not jeopardise publication of the project in a peer reviewed scientific journal.”Commenting on the project, synthetic biology professor John Ward of University College London said: “The project is not as controversial as some observers might be saying. “There is no call to make an entire human being just as there is no push for doing that with current studies using human embryos.A group of American-led scientists and entrepreneurs has announced the start of a 10-year project aimed at creating synthetic human genomes in a move that could revolutionise the field of biotechnology but raises troubling ethical concerns. “Genome synthesis is a logical extension of the genetic engineering tools that have been used safely within the biotech industry for 40 years and have provided important societal benefits,” the paper’s authors said. “Discussions to synthesize, for the first time, a human genome should not occur in closed rooms. The genome is the genetic blueprint of every organism — the complete Wax Rolls Suppliers set of DNA containing the instructions it needs to survive and thrive

Since the age of four, he has been ‘stealing’ his father’s materials from his room and make sculptures. But when I realised he was serious, I started saving all his works, whether they were sculptures of animals, things, faces or anything. “The four-day exhibition was a crowd-puller and I never expected this much of reception for my son’s works. This child artist is a stickler for perfection and he does not want to take any lesson from elders. As kids, they tend to start something and stop after getting bored. She showed no interest in it and took to the pencil and pen as she is interested in drawing. But Abhimanyu seems to be going in the right direction even if it is too early to predict his future. You need to have the flair for sculpting inside you. If there is a word that suits him, that would be wilful. He makes sculptures that are so tiny that he needs to give a lot of attention to detail. At the age of four, when he actually started to make sculptures using wax and clay, I never expected he would continue it. I want to make more things. Abhimanyu is a spirited child and when asked about the response from his friends and teachers, he says, “Everyone liked it.

One thing that stands out in his nature is that he is so wilful that he doesn’t like any interference in his work. But we can’t call him a baby sensation either, as it would be errant. It was a small dinosaur that Abhimanyu sculpted for the first time and Subhash hopes his son will evolve into a great sculptor. But it doesn’t mean only those who have it in their genes can flaunt it. “I used to sit with him while he works.Abhimanyu’s mother and sister are also very supportive of his work..” Subhash is now planning to take his son’s sculptures to his school and showcase it for the children, after a great reception. I was wrong. At the tender age of seven, he is doing things most of his peers can only dream of. Since birth, he has been witnessing his grandfather and father making sculptures using wax and clay. “He used to spend a lot of time on it.Abhimanyu’s family of traditional sculptors has influenced him a lot.But Abhimanyu surprised him when he started following in his footsteps.

Subhash says at first he bought clay for his daughter who is older than Abhimanyu. “If everything goes well, I hope I can finish it soon and help my son set up another exhibition in Kochi,” says Subhash. But he never likes it when I give an advice or suggestion,” says Subhash. Sculpting at a young age is one thing, but holding an exhibition of his own works is something else. What he needs today is encouragement, not training. Subhash’s next plan is to transform his son’s works into bronze as it will give them more value. I really like this. But Abhimanyu spends a lot of time with wax and clay,” says his father Subhash. I thought this was just a passing fancy. The recently concluded exhibition of his 100 sculptures at the Lalithakala Akademi in Kerala attracted many.Considering the age of this class I student, calling him a genius would be more than he can handle, as the word comes with baggage. When the right moment arrived, we decided to set up an exhibition,” says Subhash, a trained sculptor and the current depilatory wax strip Suppliers caretaker of the Akademi gallery

But for ingenuity, the Latrine blowfly may very well take the cake."The Latrine blowfly is a warm-weather insect best known for depositing its eggs on dead animals. And they observed that the reddish coloured bubble -- growing to almost double its head size -- cooled rapidly, "down to as much as eight degrees Celsius (14.Other functions may include digestion. This "bubbling behaviour", he told AFP, appears to be "a very effective way for blowflies to promote evaporative cooling and, therefore, lower their body temperature.0 C, 0.The flies blew more bubbles as air temperature increased, but fewer in humid surroundings where moisture in the air hampers evaporation, the team observed.2 C respectively" -- and more after repeated efforts.

While sweating and panting is an effective cooling method for mammals and birds, body surface evaporation is tougher for insects with their hard, wax-covered external skeletons. To cool down, it blows bubbles with its stomach juices through its mouth, and then sucks them back in, scientists revealed on Thursday. Animals have adopted an interesting array of techniques for regulating body temperature through evaporation. The fly's bubble-blowing has been observed before, but its function has remained a mystery up until now.5 C, and 0."Blowflies then re-ingest the cooled droplet, which lowers the temperature of the fly's head, thorax and abdomen by 1

Vertigo is found to affect any age group but the incidence is being seen largely after 40 years of age due to multiple physiological factors.

Vertigo needs immediate medical attention. Dizziness is the result of fluid build-up in the ears that puts pressure on the eardrum and inner ear.Intermittent sensation of loss of balance or chronic illusions of motions is the indication of vertigo which is felt by those who have had a history of cold viruses, head trauma or Meniere’s disease. It affects the vestibular labyrinth leading to dizziness.Vertigo is classified into two broad categories central and periphery. The dizziness that the patient feels is aggravated due to the mental trauma.”Treatment involves physical therapy and also surgical procedure. The incidence is found to increase after 40 years of age in those people who have suffered from the history of ear infections, vestibular neuronitis, pain in the neck and also migraine associated dizziness. The patient needs to take medicines to lessen the pain and the characteristic dizzy feeling

The police also conducted raids in five locations in the Delhi-NCR region. A crime branch team went to the CBSE office on Saturday night. This was done since the ambit of the probe has widened and there is a possibility of the paper leak being connected to other parts of the country, another officer said. It is analysing these complaints to ascertain whether they were acts of mischief or if there was any truth to them. The officer, however, said there was “no breakthrough” in the case so far.The police has zeroed in on six WhatsApp groups that figured in the trail of transmission of papers and they are being probed.
